So why are The IMPOSSIBLES attempting such a crazy feat of human endurance? To answer this question you need look no further than the role of women in our society. Whether your girl friend, sister, wife or mum, Breast Cancer affects 1 in 8 woman today challenging our personal and family relationships.
All the runners and support crew have been affected in some way by knowing a friend or family member who have suffered from Breast Cancer. Jaynie who is a close friend to us all has been battling with the disease for the last eight years and was the inspiration to create this unique and challenging event to help raise awareness and funds for the prevention and treatment of Breast Cancer. The runners will aim to start and complete the full distance together. Working as a team, they will be covering an average distance of 44km (marathon distance is 42.2km) each day with the exception of the last day, just 24km leading to the pub at Birdsville for a well deserved beer for all involved!
Its the extreme conditions and tough terrain that really makes this event truly unbelievable. Temperatures will get up to the high 40's and the runners will have to run over an average of 130 sand dunes each day in soft sand.
