MARK SIMON

Age:
40

Lives:
Balgowlah, Northern Beaches, Sydney

Started running:
As a 17 yr old playing rugby in South Africa....they were alot bigger than me and being on the wing I had to be fast so as not to be smashed too often.

Proudest Running Moment:
In 2006 running with a 6'5 Massai warrior through the Massai Mara in Kenya past herds of Giraffe, zebra and elephant. Finishing 146th from 801 starters in the Marathon des Sables in the Sahara, Morocco and receiving letters of encouragement from Monners and Deek!

Worst Running Moment:
Day 2 in the Marathon des Sables-losing both big toenails and losing almost 2 hrs of time-angry and frustrating!

Best Marathon Time:
Have as yet to compete in a traditional timed marathon.

Why compete:
Most people in Australia know of someone who has had breast cancer. I am proud to be associated with this team and support crew, who are running for Jaynie, raising money and more importantly 'awareness'.
